Special Programs and Groups - Housing Early Arrival
The official Arrival Days for fall semester are Thursday, Aug. 20 - Saturday, Aug. 22. University Housing is available beginning Monday, Aug. 17 for Early Arrival for any student who needs to arrive early to campus due to programs, work, travel arrangements, personal reasons, etc. There is a Housing Early Arrival Fee for this service.
Students do not need to request early arrival - they can simply Schedule Move-In for their planned arrival day. The earliest arrival date is Monday, Aug. 17; students who need to arrive prior to Aug. 17 will need to make alternative housing arrangements.
If you are arriving early to participate in a Special Program, review the program's information below to verify the expected Arrival days and who is responsible for paying the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
The Campus Meal Plan is activated when the student checks in. Learn more about Food Services locations and hours of operations.
Schedule Move-In
Once room assignments post in eLiving at 12 p.m. (noon) ET Tuesday, July 28, students can then Schedule Move-In.
- Login to eLiving > My Info > Schedule Move-In
- Select a date/time that works for your schedule. No confirmation will be sent. You can modify your date/time as necessary
- It is recommended that you and your roommate do not move in at the same time, to allow for space to unpack
AURORA Programs
Penn State's AURORA programs offers unique outdoor expeditions for students! Students will NOT need to Schedule Move-In - the University will update all participants' accounts with an AURORA group designation as the Schedule Move-In time; this update will appear the week of Aug. 3.
AURORA Expeditions scheduled for August 17-21
Drop-and-Go Storage Option: Sunday, Aug. 16 noon - 4 p.m.
- This is a drop-and-go storage feature, students may not set up room or stay in room overnight.
- A 2 hour window for access is activated during the timeframe. After 2 hours, access will automatically be removed.
- Students are not permitted to sleep in the room overnight.
- Students will not be charged the Housing Early Arrival fee.
- Students who change their plans and do not attend AURORA or return early from the program may be charged the Housing Early Arrival fee.
Follow these steps for a smooth Drop-and-Go Storage process:
- Complete self-check-in up to 2 hours before that time to activate your access to your building, room, and dining plan.
*Pollock Halls residents assigned to traditional residence halls must check in at the Pollock Commons Desk. - Proceed to your designated residence hall Unloading Zone
- Proceed to your room.
*Follow the digital locks instructions to access the room (excluding Pollock traditional residence halls). - Unload your belongings - all items must be stored on the bed or furniture. The room cannot be set up.
- Access will automatically be removed after 2 hours
*Pollock Halls residents who receive a room key MUST return the key to Pollock Commons Desk before leaving campus; room keys that are not returned will incur a $64 core change fee.
Friday, Aug. 21 Return
East, West, North, and South Halls: Students will automatically be added to the "AURORA Return" Schedule Move-In slot in eLiving (this will appear between Aug 17-19) and do not need to select another time slot. Students can go directly to their residence hall and use the Self Check-In feature again to gain building and room access in eLiving OR visit their Commons Desk to check in.
Pollock Traditional Halls: Students will check in at the Pollock Commons Desk to receive their physical room key
Blue Band
Students auditioning for Blue Band will Schedule Move-In based on their audition date.
Students who arrive 1 or 2 days earlier than their audition date will be charged the Housing Early Arrival fee.
MEPO
Students participating in Multicultural Engineering Program Orientation (MEPO) will Schedule Move-In for Monday, Aug. 17.
Students will be charged the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
Joint Service ROTC
Students participating in Joint Service ROTC will Schedule Move-In based on their specific ROTC branch:
- Navy ROTC Tuesday, Aug. 18
- Air Force ROTC Tuesday, Aug. 18
- Army ROTC Thursday, Aug. 20
Students who arrive between Monday, Aug. 17 - Wednesday, Aug. 19 will be charged the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
SHO TIME for Schreyer Honors College
Students participating in SHO TIME for Schreyer Honors College will Schedule Move-In for Thursday, Aug. 20 between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
SHO TIME event begins on Thursday afternoon.
Students who arrive between Monday, Aug. 17 - Wednesday, Aug. 19 will be charged the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
TEEMS
Students will NOT need to Schedule Move-In - the University will update all participants' accounts with a TEEMS group designation as the Schedule Move-In time; this update will appear the week of Aug. 3.
Tuesday, Aug. 18 Arrival 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
- This is a drop-and-go storage feature, students may not set up room or stay in room overnight.
- After 11 a.m., access will automatically be removed.
- Students are not permitted to sleep in the room overnight.
- Students will not be charged the Housing Early Arrival fee.
- Students who change their plans and do not attend TEEMS or return early from the program may be charged the Housing Early Arrival fee.

WEPO
Students participating in Woman in Engineering Program Orientation (WEPO) will Schedule Move-In for Monday, Aug. 17.
Students will be charged the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
Hillel at Penn State
Students participating in Penn State Hillel's First-Year Kickoff will Schedule Move-In for Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Students will be charged the Housing Early Arrival Fee.
Housing Early Arrival Fee
The official Housing Arrival Days are Thursday, Aug. 20 - Saturday, Aug. 22. University Housing opens on Monday, Aug. 17 for students who may need to arrive early.
Early Arrival Housing is not included in the fall semester housing and food charges.
Students who arrive Monday, Aug. 17, Tuesday, Aug. 18, OR Wednesday, Aug. 19 will have the Housing Early Arrival fee charged to their LionPATH account. The Campus Meal Plan is activated upon check-in and does not require an additional fee.

- Wednesday $40
- Thursday no fee
Some special programs may cover a student's Housing Early Arrival fee; the program will communicate this information. If a student arrives earlier than the date the group has identified, the student may be responsible for a portion of the Housing Early Arrival fee.
