Shipping Ahead

If you cannot fit all of your possessions in your vehicle, you may ship packages ahead to your residence hall mailing address via parcel post, UPS, or Federal Express. Mail your items so that the items arrive no earlier than one week prior to your arrival. The University will not accept packages sent collect or COD (cash on delivery). Your items will be available for pick up in your residence area Commons Desk after you receive the confirmation email. Be sure to track and insure your packages!

Note: Storage is not available in Nittany Apartments; packages may not be shipped ahead.

Storage

Storage is not available during summer months between the spring and fall semesters.

If you are attending summer session and you need to store your belongings between your spring and summer or summer and fall housing assignments, please contact the area Housing Office (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) where you will be living for the future assignment to schedule an appointment.  You can schedule the appointment once you know your room assignment for the following semester. Limited storage is available.

Storage space is secure, but is offered at your own risk. Electronic equipment such as computers, stereos, and televisions cannot be held in general storage areas or in your room prior to arrival.

If you need storage between spring and fall semesters, Penn State has contracted with Storage Squad, a storage service offered by a private company, to meet student and parent needs.  This service provides packing materials, pickup, storage, and delivery (including a door-to-door option) of belongings. Please visit their website for additional details and pricing. The student is responsible for the contract with the company.

The Storage Squad relationship benefits students and the University.  The Association of Residence Hall Students (ARHS) receives financial support from this relationship with Storage Squad.  Annual financial support helps ARHS provide events and student services within the residence halls.  PSU students and families can select storage options other than Storage Squad.  Please direct questions about the University's relationship with Storage Squad to the University Housing Office at (814) 865-7543.
