Your To-Do List
Contact Your Roommate
Prior to arrival, room assignment and roommate information will be available in eLiving. Select "My Room" from the left-hand navigation. If you have not met your roommate(s), give them a call and introduce yourself. Now is a good time to talk about your interests, your families, why you chose Penn State, and what each of you plans to bring with you. This way, you won’t duplicate items like TVs, game consoles, or DVD players.
The Bursar will send notification when the semester bill is available in LionPATH. If a student has an outstanding balance, the student will be notified during the semester. The notification will include deadline dates and ramifications for an unpaid bill. Learn more about your Penn State.
Penn State id+ Card
The Penn State id+ Card is the official identification card for Penn State. It provides access to your assigned residence hall building, access to your Campus Meal Plan, and access to any funds that you have deposited to your LionCash+ account. LionCash+ can be used to pay for bookstore purchases, downtown merchant purchases, bus tokens, laundry services, and more. If you did not receive your Penn State id+ Card prior to checking in to University Housing, you will need to visit the id+ Office when you arrive on campus to receive an id+ card.
Bring personal items that will help you feel at home in your new room! Review our helpful checklists to find out which items you should bring and which you should leave at home. For a listing of items that are prohibited in the residence halls, see the Terms, Conditions, and Regulations.
Pack light when you come for Arrival! Don’t bring all your belongings on your first trip to campus. You may want to wait to see how much storage space you have and then plan on bringing additional items at another time. Pack everything in boxes or storage bins and clearly mark each with your name and room number. You may store one piece of luggage in the residence hall storage area.
Getting Connected to the Penn State Network
The Penn State wireless network is accessible in all University Housing buildings. In addition to the wireless network, a student can also register for an Ethernet Connection (a wired network connection) through ResCom.
Upload Your Immunization Records
All students must upload required immunization records to University Health Services prior to arrival. Failure to submit immunizations will have consequences.
