When and where is check-in?

Your check-in location, dates, and times depend on your year and the residence hall you're living in. View the arrival page to see where you need to go and when.

Can I move in early or on a day other than my assigned Arrival date?

Students may move in early. Arrangements must be made with Housing and an additional fee will be charged.

I didn’t get a meningitis shot. Can I still move in?

All incoming undergraduate and graduate students must submit proof of immunizations prior to their arrival on campus. Visit the University Health Services website for information on required immunizations and to download the Penn State Immunization Verification Form. Using the two-step process outlined on the website, submit your information to my UHS prior to arriving on campus.

When do I get my room assignment?

You can view your room assignment information on your eLiving login page. If your assignment is not available, please check back. It will be posted once it is completed. You will need your Penn State Access Account and password to log on to your page to retrieve your room assignment.

Note: Before you can view your room assignment information, you must review and update the "emergency contact information" section. Residence Life will use this information in the event of an emergency so they know who to contact. It also alerts staff if you require special assistance to evacuate the building.

Information maintained through this page will be updated on a nightly basis, so if a change is made, it will not be reflected until the following business day.

How do I find out who my roommate is?

Can we bunk our beds?

All beds at the Commonwealth Campuses can be bunked. At University Park, beds in all of the supplemental housing rooms and a few other rooms can be bunked. Contact your area Housing Office for more specific information about your room.

Can we build a loft?

Bed lofts are permitted in most residence hall rooms. Contact your area Housing Office for information.

How do I know what to bring and what not to bring?

The Arrival site for your campus features convenient lists of items to bring with you and items to leave at home.

What size sheets do I need for my bed?

Beds are extra long twin size. (80" x 36")

Where will I park my vehicle?

Visit the campus parking page to register your vehicle and for more information on parking on campus.

May I have overnight guests?

In order to ease congestion of the move-in period and provide the opportunity for roommates and floormates to get to know one another, family and friends will not be permitted to spend the night in the residence halls until Tuesday, August 24.

I can’t find my id+ card that I was given in June.

If your Penn State id+ Card is lost or has been stolen, you should deactivate it immediately. When you deactivate your card, your residence hall access, Campus Meal Plan, LionCash+ account, and fitness membership will automatically be suspended. To suspend other features—such as those offered by PNC Bank—you must contact the appropriate office.

If you find your card within seven days of deactivating it, you may reactivate it online and your residence hall access, Campus Meal Plan, LionCash+ account, and fitness membership will be reinstated. To reinstate other features—such as those offered by PNC Bank—you must contact the appropriate office.

If you can not locate your card, you can get a new card at the id+ Office when you arrive on campus. A card replacement fee will be charged.

Do I need to put money on my id+ card before I can eat?

How do I pay to do laundry and how much does it cost?

Fully equipped laundry facilities are located in each residence area for exclusive use by on-campus residents. LionCash+ is the only acceptable way to pay for laundry. The wash cycle is $1.50 per cycle, and drying is $0.50 per cycle. Funds can be deposited to your LionCash+ account online or at the Housing and Food Services Office. Problems with laundry facilities should be reported to Housing and Food Services.

Where can I store my moving boxes?

Due to space limitations, we are unable to offer storage for moving boxes.

When will I be able to move from supplemental to a standard room?

How do I switch roommates?

You must contact the Housing and Food Service Office.
